On June 12th ARA testified against a piece of legislation in Rhode Island that would place significant restrictions on the use of recycled automotive parts in insurance repairs. Senate Bill 926 would restrict the use of recycled parts in repairs by requiring any recycled part being used in a repair to come from a "vehicle of the same year or newer and have the same or less mileage than the vehicle receiving the used part." Joining in opposition was the Automotive Recyclers of Massachusetts and LKQ Corporation. Fortunately, the Judiciary Committee hearing Senate Bill 926 decided on holding the bill for further study.
